Prerequisites / Co-requisites
Successful completion of Creative Practice B, and the permission of the Module Convenor.
This module focuses exclusively on the completion of a substantial and individualistic body of work that is a hybrid of traditional divisions of creative practice (conception, creation and execution) and the means of a work's realisation (including both acoustic and electronic technologies). This might include (but is not limited to) such practices as sound/video art installation, adaptive game music, sonification, DJing, live coding, digital and/or free improvisation and generative composition.
Enable you to develop advanced skills as a creative practitioner, technically and artistically.
Apply improvisational and collaborative working methods as appropriate to your area of specialism.
Realise an original programme of work across any combination of creative practice including, for example, composition, performance, improvisation, musical arrangement, studio and live-electronic production or mixed/multi-media production.

Through guided tutorial support with the department’s theorists and practitioners you will aim to advance your understanding and practice of your particular sphere of work. Collaborative and cross-disciplinary initiatives are encouraged as appropriate. Depending on the area of work, instrumental tuition may form part of the course content.

The learning and teaching strategy is designed to:
Develop a student’s creative practice, critical reflection and understanding of domains where the conventional divisions between such roles as composer, performer, programmer and technician are blurred.

Formative assessment and Feedback
There are no formative assessments for this module, but tutorials will allow feedback on students’ work in progress, both in terms of conception and practical execution.
Detailed feedback on the written commentary and portfolio of works are given (with a breakdown of strengths and weaknesses) in written format (as well as the option for a post-assessment tutorial) in order to enhance continuing creative practice.
