This module aims to explore in practice further exercises and techniques of practitioners inspired by Stanislavski.
Contextual work focuses on the key genres of naturalism and realism and their relationship to acting.

Prerequisites / Co-requisites
A good command of spoken and written English. If the student’s first language is not English, and s/he has not been taught in English or studied to A level standard in the UK, s/he will need to demonstrate a minimum level of competence. Students will be expected to attend warm-up sessions and bring personal objects and other items into classes. Detailed and extensive preparation will be necessary for text focussed and devised scenarios.
Indicative content includes:
Practical work will focus on further practitioners inspired by Stanislavski.
Indicative practical exercises may include object exercises and exercises based on Meisner.
Contextual seminars will focus on the genres of Naturalism and Realism, relating to the work in Rehearsal Module 2.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to:
Provide students with further skills for critical reflection on practice.
Provide students with a contextual understanding of the genres of Naturalism and Realism that they will be exploring practically in Rehearsal Module 2.
Encourage students to engage practically with rehearsal techniques and exercises particularly relevant to the work encountered in Rehearsal Module 2.
The learning and teaching methods include:
12 hours of practical workshops per week for 12 weeks of semester 2.
1.5 hours of seminars per week for 12 weeks of semester 2.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
