The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate successful completion of the module learning outcomes.

Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:

A two hour exam comprising short, and long answers as well as multiple choice questions

Module aims

  • This module will enable the student to think and begin to critically question the scientific basis of midwifery by developing new knowledge, skills and understanding surrounding related anatomy, physiology and associated care. The module will enable students to link the art and science of midwifery which underpins the provision of care to the mother and baby during normal pregnancy, labour and the puerperium.

Methods of Teaching / Learning

 The module will be facilitated using an eclectic mix of learning strategies to meet student’s learning needs. SurreyLearn self-directed learning modules, workbooks, seminar groups, practical workshops, lectures group discussion and 1-1 tutorials.

Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
