Educational aims of the programme

  • To deepen experiential knowledge, ability and critical understanding of the integrated practice of acting
  • To develop a comprehensive theoretical and experiential understanding of the techniques and methodologies inherent in the practice of acting
  • To enable an advanced knowledge of context, style, genre and idiom in the practice of acting
  • To provide an ensemble training context for the development of professional skills based on practical and theoretical understanding and reflective practice.
  • To enable the student to demonstrate originality in the application of knowledge, together with a practical knowledge of how to research and create independent practice

Programme structure


This Master's Degree programme is studied full-time over two academic years, consisting of 240 credits at FHEQ level 7*. All modules are semester based and worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.
Possible exit awards include:
- Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits)
- Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits)
*some programmes may contain up to 30 credits at FHEQ level 6.
