Educational aims of the programme

  • Train and develop actor-musicians with an appreciation and understanding of creative, aesthetic and communication of high order performance skills in a broad range of artistic situations.
  • Provide a theoretical understanding and critical awareness of key theatrical, cultural and social and musical contexts.
  • Develop intellectual and practical skills to reinforce and articulate self-reflection and critical awareness
  • Develop critical and independent practitioners imbues with a sense of learning as a lifetime pursuit via a commitment to professional and personal development
  • Provide an integrated approach within an academic and vocational creative training environment in pursuit of development and sustaining a career within the performance and entertainment industries as an actor-musician.

Programme structure


This Bachelor's Degree (Honours) programme is studied full-time over three academic years, consisting of 360 credits (120 credits at FHEQ levels 4, 5 and 6). All modules are semester based and worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.
Possible exit awards include:
- Bachelor's Degree (Ordinary) (300 credits)

- Certificate of Higher Education (120 credits)
