Media 2 extends students' experience of working with cameras.
This module builds on the work of Level 5. Students extend their understanding of the various technical aspects of filming, as well as screen performance.
Through a series of Tutor led workshops, students make a short film working right through the process, from initial script idea through pre-production, production and post-production.
Students work under supervision to produce their final short films.

Prerequisites / Co-requisites
Successful completion of the Acting Technique modules of Level 5. Students will be expected to attend warm-up sessions and arrive appropriately prepared for physical work. Detailed and extensive research and preparation will be necessary in pursuit of the modules aims and objectives.

The developing, shooting and editing of a short film.
The development of showreel material.

- Consolidate the skills requisite to working in recorded media, including independent work without heavy reliance on the director.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to:
Develop students’ awareness of camera techniques, following on from the camera classes in the Level 5 Acting Technique modules.
Develop students’ technical awareness with video recording equipment.
The learning and teaching methods include:
Rehearsals led by tutor or visiting professional.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
