The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate attitude toward independent research and creative thinking.
Thus, the summative assessment for this unit consists of:
Written critical report on some of the topics/papers covered during the course.
Formative assessment - There will be ample opportunity for informal feedback through class discussion, comments and feedbacks from fellows PhDs and faculty. Comments and suggestion on the written report will be provided
- To provide an overview of hot research topics in various areas of economics and help students to choose a research topic.
- To provide a better match between students and supervisors, as the former get to know the research performed by the different faculty members.

The learning and teaching strategy is designed to bring students in contact with the frontier of research in the various areas, make them aware of the field of interest of faculty members. This will facilitate a good match between students and supervisors
The learning and teaching methods include: Presentation and discussion
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
