The Public Performance (usually, but not restricted to the Industry Showcase) provides students with the opportunity to perform before a public audience.
For the Industry Showcase, Students will undertake rehearsals under the guidance of a professional director in preparation for the production which is designed to introduce the students to the industry at large. Students will be advised and guided in developing a realistic awareness of casting potential and perceived type in order to ensure that employability and suitability of the material chosen demonstrates a confident and assured performance of the chosen scene.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to:
Place an emphasis on the practical development of skills that are required for imminent entry into the profession.
The module provides students with practical experience of a rehearsal process that integrates various points of study from Level 4 and Level 5, providing valuable experience that enables them to enter the industry at the end of Level 6 study.
The learning and teaching methods include:
The module is made up of 150 hours study time across the semester.
The hours include but are not limited to different learning and teaching strategies to enable students to achieve learning outcomes, including research, reflective practice, independent and guided learning and peer to peer learning.
- Students are encouraged to utilise materials on SURREY LEARN and also receive individual tutorials and from tutors and industry professionals to help inform their practice.
- Students receive regular verbal feedback individually and as a group during each reherasal which they are encouraged to journal within the reflection time which is built in to the schedule.
- Students are encouraged to self-assess and peer-assess within the class structure which becomes a valuable strategy for visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
