From the initial proposal conceived in Level 5‘s Professional Development Planning to the formation of the detailed plan and progression in Level 6’s PDP module, this Graduate Showcase module consolidates all activity towards the realisation of the students' London Showcase event, a pivotal marketing event for soon to graduate students providing an opportunity to meet prospective employers and key practitioners representing production sectors of the entertainment, theatre, media, event and corporate industry.

Interrogation of technical specifications.
Appointment of group and project leaders and allocation of roles and responsibilities.
Liaison with venues, sponsors and suppliers.
Internal and external business group communication (marketing, finance, HoDs, PTU).

Graduate Showcase Exhibition
Successful transition from planning and research to the practical realisation of a high-end marketing and trade event designed to evidence the student’s vocational skills and promote the student’s employability (L/O’s 1,2,3,4)
Graduate Showcase Portfolio
A reference resource recording the process, people and activities prominent in the student’s formation of their Graduate Showcase (2,3,4)
Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:
Graduate Showcase Exhibition (Practice and Process)
Observation of student’s engagement with taught sessions, independent study and progression of their GSP proposal to plan and realisation demonstrating research, planning, communication, time management, application of technical skills and personal marketing.
Graduate Showcase Portfolio
The Showcase Portfolio should normally be submitted two weeks after the event has closed and during standard Semester submission period (Wks 13-15). Written feedback for the Portfolio will normally be available 3 weeks after formal submission and assessment.
Formative assessment and feedback
Throughout the period of activity students will engage in a variety of lectures, seminars, workshops. Group and individual feedback on emerging work will be delivered as a continuous commentary to these sessions. Further tutorial support is available as described above.
- Implement the Graduate Showcase planning work evidenced earlier in Semester One
- Construct a time-critical pre-production and preparatory stage in the students PDP as it relates to the Graduate Showcase
- To provide guidance in style, delivery and format of student generated marketing materials
- Offer sessions in voice and presentation, underpinning the importance of personal communication
- Assess proposed content and discuss generic theme/concept of wider exhibition
- Introduce key activities found with standard business ‘networking' models

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to:
Enable students to develop appreciation of the sector skills requirements for employability.
Provide a secure template for the management and realisation of a marketing/networking event.
Identify key employment opportunities through appreciation of industry practitioners across creative, technical, manufacturing and supply sectors.
Allow students to plan for post-graduate employment and further education.
Engage students in discourse allowing for a learner directed approach to their PDP.
This module underpins core Programme Learning outcomes supporting the application of knowledge, concepts and skills across disciplines, the ability to organise material independently and critically evaluate its significance and in the identification of key practitioners.
The learning and teaching methods include:
Visits from industry/trade bodies.
Student and Tutor led workshops.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
