Prerequisites / Co-requisites

Successful completion of Level 5 BA (Hons) Acting. A good command of spoken and written English. If the student’s first language is not English, and s/he has not been taught in English or studied to A level standard in the UK, s/he will need to demonstrate a minimum level of competence.

  • Exercises in radio working practices.

  • Exercises in voice-over working practices.

Module aims

  • Consolidate the skills requisite to working in recorded media, including independent work without heavy reliance on the director
  • Integrate techniques acquired and developed at Levels 4 and 5 in an industry level experience
  • Provide a working environment which adheres to professional values and codes of conduct, employing industry professionals where required.
  • Develop an intelligent engagement with the key components of the creation of recorded performance

The learning and teaching strategy is designed to:

  • Prepare students for radio and voiceover work

The learning and teaching methods include:

  • Tutor or visiting professional led sessions.

  • Practical sessions.

  • Group research.

  • Individual research.

  • Independent study.

  • Tutorials.

Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
