Educational aims of the programme
- Develop experience of reading written and performed texts and develop knowledge of texts that are relevant to current practices in theatre and performance
- Critically investigate and offer understanding of the political, social, cultural, historical and/or geographical contexts for the production of theatre and the ways in which theatre (texts, performances and events) intervenes in these contexts
- Develop a range of subject specific and transferable skills that centre upon independent critical and creative practice,
- Enable students to be aware of and to apply a broad and balanced set of written and performed ideas and understandings of theatre that demonstrate an international and cross-disciplinary perspective on theatre performance
- Develop employability skills for the creative and cultural industries,
- Impart an enthusiasm for and understanding of theatre that informs and inspires future choices, including careers, further study and lifelong learning
- Encourage and develop a spirit of enquiry, imagination, and creativity in personal expression and in productive modes of communication, particularly in the creation and realisation of theatre performance
- Develop awareness of methods/processes of enquiry and reflection and the ability to evaluate critically the appropriateness of these for the analysis and/or creation of theatre projects

Full-time
This Bachelor's Degree (Honours) programme is studied full-time over three academic years, consisting of 360 credits (120 credits at FHEQ levels 4, 5 and 6). All modules are 15, 30, 45 or 60 credits and are either semester based or year-long. GSA delivers its provision across three teaching blocks, within the University of Surrey’s existing semester structure.
Possible exit awards include:
- Bachelor's Degree (Ordinary) (300 credits)
- Diploma of Higher Education (240 credits)
- Certificate of Higher Education (120 credits)
Full-time with PTY
