In light of the Covid-19 pandemic the University has revised its courses to incorporate the ‘Hybrid Learning Experience’ in a departure from previous academic years and previously published information. The University has changed the delivery (and in some cases the content) of its programmes. We have updated key module information regarding the pattern of assessment and overall student workload to inform student module choices. We are currently working on bringing remaining published information up to date to reflect current practice in time for the start of the academic year 2021/22.
This means that some information within the programme and module catalogue will be subject to change. Current students are invited to contact their Programme Leader or Academic Hive with any questions relating to the information available.
This is the final module for the Post Graduate Certificate in Management Education and functions as the practical element of the programme. Thus, it is designed as a 3-day summer school taking place in June/ July. Students will have the opportunity to put learned concepts into practice and apply their knowledge in real. This is also the first time students will come together as a cohort and will work together as a teaching team designing a 3hour workshop. The 3 hour workshop will be delivered to a group of established senior teaching fellows in the business school.

MANM408, MANM409 & MANM410 all three modules need to be completed successfully before attending the 3 day summer school.

The group project can be replaced under specific circumstances with an individual 1 hour workshop delivered by the student.
The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned, how they apply it and put it into practice.
Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:
- Group project (50%, 3h workshop & 1500 words) – The group project consist of a 3 hour workshop and a 1500 word report. The report is submitted in the end of day 2 and gives an overview of what to expect in the workshop taking place on the next day.
- Individual Prospective account (50%, 1500 words) – The reflective account is submitted two weeks after the 3-day summer school takes place. Students should draw on what they have learned and taken away during their studies and in particular should present how this informed their teaching philosophy.
Throughout the 3 day summer school personal learning coach are present to support students and can give feedback on any course related matters. Feedback for the 3 hour workshop will be given on day 3 in the debrief/ feedback afternoon. Aspects from this session should be taken into account for the individual reflective account due 2 weeks after the 3 day summer school. Students can still utilise personal learning coach after the 2 day summer school until submission of the final assessment. Students will receive feedback on their final assessment 10 days after submission.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to:
- Give students the opportunity to put their learning into practice.
- Meet other students on the programme and work as teams.
- Test the student’s suitability to teach in a business school context.

The 3 day summer schools adopts a flipped class room approach and consist of three days:
Day 1: From theory to application - includes a number of small workshops relevant for the design of a workshop (see module content for more information).
Day 2: From application into practice - Students will work as teams to design a workshop based on evidence and the knowledge and understanding acquired. In the end of day 2 students will submit their group report.
Day 3: Management Learning in Practice - Students will run a 3 hour workshop in the morning. The afternoon focuses on feedback and reflection for students from the workshop attendees.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
