EVIDENCING YOUR PRACTICE - 2022/3

Module Overview
The module gives students from a wide range of disciplines in health and social care the opportunity to evidence their practice in their own clinical speciality. Students will be encouraged to examine theoretical aspects of decision-making, to analyse and develop their practice, develop strategies for effective and defendable practice through an analysis care situations from their practice. The student will be supervised by a mentor in practice who will sign off competencies in practice, giving written and verbal feedback on the student’s performance and development. Tutorial support will be available from a member of staff relevant to the student’s area of practice.

Prerequisites / Co-requisites
- The potential capacity to perform academically to undergraduate level as assessed through a combination of their application form, performance at interview and the completion of a written academic essay
- Relevant mental health work experience (voluntary or paid) as assessed through their application form and performance at interview
- Employment within an IAPT service that is able to meet the course training requirements

- E learning materials to assist the practitioner to evidence their practice
- Clinical supervision in a variety of clinical settings
- Role of the specialist practitioner

Assessment Strategy
The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate the advancement of their practice in clinical settings.
Students need to have passed all assignments for modules PSY3110, PSY3111 and PSY3113 before submitting their module PSY3112 portfolio with practice competencies signed off.
The assessment must be passed in order to pass the module.
Assessment will be marked at FHEQ level 6, with a pass mark of 40% on graded assessments and passed pass/fail assessments.
Formative assessment
Written and / or verbal feedback from clinical and case management supervisors as part of the portfolio of learning including regular review of practice day tasks. Tutors will monitor progress through a mid-way and final review meeting with trainees.
The portfolio must pass to pass the module. This includes (but is not limited to) the practice competencies being signed off by the practice supervisor and all graded assignments achieve at least 40%.at FHEQ level 6).

Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
