Advanced research methods are a key differentiator of the approach of work and organizational psychologists to their practice with organizational clients and as scientists in conducting research in organizations.

This module is designed to enable students to develop skills and knowledge of advanced techniques that can be deployed flexibly in various research and practice settings. Learning will be key to student preparation for the dissertation.

Methods of Teaching / Learning

The learning and teaching strategy is designed to enable students to develop a practical and critical perspective on advanced methodology in work and organizational psychology.

The learning and teaching methods include:


  • Lectures from the Module Team

  • Practical activities applying techniques of analysis

  • Assignments that involve application of advanced techniques to draw conclusions


Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
