Assessment Strategy
The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate the achievements of the module’s learning outcomes.
Summative assessment:
The student is assessed on the basis of a project report. The assessment is designed to capture the ability of the students to design and execute a small piece of empirical research on an accounting or finance topic and to critically discuss and evaluate the research findings. All projects are checked for plagiarism using an electronic plagiarism detection system.
Formative assessment and feedback:
Students should build on the outcomes and feedback received in the Cases in Accounting and Finance module and develop a project using secondary research that demonstrates the successful understanding the module’s aims and outcomes. Additionally, the module offers a platform (via SurreyLearn) for students to give and receive feedback. Finally, weekly student feedback and consultation hours aim to provide additional feedback and advise students where necessary.

Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration.
