Employability: The programme is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required senior management and leadership roles. The programme includes activities, assessments and a bespoke careers element specially designed to enhance students' employability in a competitive labour market.
Global and cultural capabilities: Students and staff on the MBA programme come from diverse and culturally rich backgrounds. As such students broaden their own world view, perspectives, and interpretations by interacting and engaging with this diversity on a daily basis. Additionally, several modules in the portfolio have a specific global focus with activities and assessment strategies designed to prepare students for the global marketplace that awaits after graduation.
Digital capabilities: Most MBA students join the programme with significant digital capabilities, but these are enhanced over the course of the programme. In addition to hone basic digital skills (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), MBA students engage with several specialist simulations during taught modules. Examples of these include SimVenture, a business development simulation; StratX, a strategic marketing simulation; and Miro, an application that supports ideation and creativity.
Resourcefulness and resilience: Our programme is an intensive learning journey designed to enhance students' continual professional development as senior managers and leaders. Student performance and progress is facilitated and assessed by both formative and summative assessments, supported by coaching and mentoring elements designed to assist in the development of individual and collective resourcefulness and resilience in the face of challenges and adversity. By the end of the programme, students have developed necessary attributes to progress their careers as senior leaders.
Sustainability: Sustainability is embedded in the MBA programme. In addition to a module focussed on preparing senior leaders to lead organisations in keeping with Sustainability principles and best practice, the programme also provides students with insight into how these principles interact with all of the core management disciplines. The Surrey MBA teaches responsible management and leadership above all.
