Educational aims of the programme
- Interpret and critically discuss existing knowledge in economics through advanced scholarship
- Systematically acquire and synthesise knowledge at the forefront of the academic discipline
- Conceptualise, design and implement a guided individual research project for the generation of new knowledge, applications or understanding at the forefront of the discipline.
- Apply fundamental mathematical tools and specialist software programmes for the advanced study of economics.
- Be able to apply a range of techniques for research and advanced academic enquiry in economics. Those performing at a sufficiently high level will be able to progress onto the PhD Economics programme, should they wish to do so.
- Demonstrate the transferable skills necessary for employment as a professional economist in a research environment.

This Master's Degree programme is studied full-time over one academic year, consisting of 180 credits at FHEQ level 7. All modules are semester based and worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.
