IMMUNOLOGY AND IMMUNOPATHOLOGY - 2019/0

Module code: BMS3062

Module Overview

In this module you will study the species specific immune systems and understand the basics of veterinary immunopathology. You will also study the species specific anatomical and physiological differences relevant to veterinary immunopathology.

Furthermore, you will study how the immune system of animals compares to humans. On completion of this module you will have a detailed understating of the form and function of the immune system of animals and how it influences infectious and non-infectious disease.

Assessment Strategy

The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate

A detailed knowledge of the principles of veterinary immunology and veterinary immuno-pathology.

Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:

Exam (2hrs) – Essay questions

Formative assessment and feedback

A selection of (exam type) questions will be used to assess students progress during the module.  Students will be invited to provide draft answers upon which brief written feedback (exam like) will be provided.  In addition, students will be provided with verbal feedback on their performance throughout the module. Further information will be provided in the first session and on SurreyLearn.

Module aims

  • This module aims to: Provide an overview of veterinary immunology & immuno-pathology.
