Assessment Strategy

The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate the development of their professional and practice skills and knowledge within contemporary healthcare practice
Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:
Reflective portfolio of professional development
Evidencing
A reflective synopsis critically analysing their role in health and social care and their current learning needs (2500 words)
• A Personal Development Plan outlining their future scheme of study.
• An extended Curriculum Vitae
Formative assessment
Review of learning and development portfolio
Presentation of analysis of personal and professional development
Feedback
Students will receive feedback through a variety of methods, these include:
• Verbal – during seminar sessions, or tutorials
• Written – formative feedback on chart
• Email – where requested by student
E discussion forum’s via Surreylearn

Module aims

  • Create a culture of professional and personal development whereby the healthcare professional develops a personal journal of development to evidence their deeper understanding of their professional role within contemporary healthcare practice

Methods of Teaching / Learning

The learning and teaching strategy is designed to reflect the programme and School's learning and teaching strategy to create dynamic, effective and caring health professionals. It will facilitate this through the use of blended learning and increasingly e-learning. The aim is that this module will be offered in 2 formats, either as a blended learning module or as a full e-learning experience, to meet the individual learning needs of students.
The learning and teaching methods include:
• Lectures (including e-leactures)

• guided study
• E-learning

Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
