Assessment Strategy
The assessment strategy is designed to provide learners with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding and application of the core learning outcomes for the module and the full range of knowledge, skills and behaviours identified above. It is designed to enable learners to demonstrate their ability to identify the need for change and innovation within their own organisation. Learners will be required to show that they have both the relevant analytical and diagnostic tools to identify inefficiencies and the need for change as well as appropriate tools and methodologies to manage associated recommendations and solutions to successful conclusions
In addition the assessment strategy will enable learners to prove that they are building up their knowledge and understanding about developments in the market due to opportunities technology and media provides and to become aware of the broad range of existing examples.
Summative assessment:
Individual report – 90%
Learners will be required to produce a 2,500 word report on the identification and implementation plan of an organisational change, new technology or other innovation that their organisation would benefit from. Learners will need to draw on the latest academic research and industry trends to demonstrate the relevance of their proposed solution.
Individual E-Portfolio - 10%
Learners will be required to critically reflect on and evaluate their own learning and how this informs their professional practice within the context of their role as a senior leader within their own organisation. Learners will be required to produce a critical reflection of their own learning through the submission and delivery of a 1,000 word reflective summary note.
Formative assessment
Learners will work regularly in groups and as individuals, participating in classroom or online discussion forums and webinars, to demonstrate their understanding of the subject contents and application. Learners will be required to complete online guided learning activities that demonstrate the ability to analyse key components of organisational strategy. Awareness will be built up by learners being required to lead and participate to share understanding and knowledge of elements of organisational strategy. For example, learners may be required to present online a short presentation containing information from their organisation. Learners will receive peer feedback as well as comments from the academic and industry subject matter experts.
Feedback
Learners will be given formal feedback on their assessments and receive regular, informal feedback on their contribution throughout the module.
Module aims
- This module aims to provide learners with the necessary analytical tools to identify inefficiencies within current organisational practice with regards to technological innovation
- The module will seek to develop a mindset of inquiry and problem solving and to provide learners with appropriate tools to define and evaluate options for operational improvements
