Module Overview
This module provides students with an advanced knowledge of working within developmental psychology settings, including the issues related to working with different groups. The module will introduce students to the processes involved in service evaluations within clinical settings, and will develop critical evaluation skills in relation to both research and practice. Students will learn how to be a reflective practitioner, and how reflection can enhance future practice.

Assessment Strategy
The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate a reflective understanding of different developmental psychology settings, including how to evaluate research and practice, and how to work with diverse groups.
Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:
• 2000-word group proposal for service evaluation (assessing learning outcomes 1,2,4,5,7)
• 10-minute reflective presentation / discussion (assessing learning outcomes 1,2,3,7)
• Three online activities and tests (assessing learning outcomes 1,2,3,7)
Formative assessment
Students will have the opportunity to discuss their group proposal with a lecturer during an online discussion. For the reflective presentation, students can submit a summary of their reflection points for formative feedback.
Feedback
Students will receive verbal formative feedback for their group proposal and written formative feedback for their reflective presentation. Written feedback will be provided for both of these summative assessments. Students will also receive written feedback on their online activities and tests.
Module aims
- Provide students with an advanced understanding of service evaluations within clinical settings, including issues relating to design, stakeholder involvement, and data analysis
- Develop students’ critical evaluation skills in relation to both research and practice
- Encourage students to reflect on their own attitudes, beliefs and behaviour and consider the impact this has on practice
- Enhance written and verbal communication skills through group work, presentation and discussion

• promote a reflective and evaluative approach to research and practice

Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
