Module Overview

This module provides students with an advanced knowledge of designing, conducting and writing up research in a particular field of psychology, in preparation for developing their own dissertations. The module will cover all aspects of the research process, including literature reviews, forming and testing hypotheses, ethical conduct, and collecting, analysing, interpreting and disseminating data.

Methods of Teaching / Learning

The learning and teaching strategy is designed to: • provide students with an understanding of the techniques used in health psychology research • encourage students to think critically about research • prepare students for their dissertations by developing research skills • develop communication skills through discussion. The learning and teaching methods include lectures and workshops

Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.

There is no alternative assessment for the systematic review as it is a core requirement of the BPS
