The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to:
Reflect on their goals and the skills needed to achieve them, through a career reflection exercise.
Practice job interview skills through student-driven workshops.
Engage with the variety of employability events at Surrey through attending at least one such event.
Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:
- an interview skills session
- attendance at an Employability event
- students will receive feedback on their employability reflection and can pursue further advice from the school Employability officer and the Employability and Careers Service
Formative assessment and feedback
Students will receive verbal feedback during lectures and tutorials through direct questioning. All this feedback will help students to judge their own performance and prepare for the final exam. Feedback on the writing assignment will also help the students to identify any misconceptions. In addition, students will be encouraged to attend student consultation hours of the teaching staff to receive further individual verbal feedback.

- Encourage students to reflect on their goals and how to develop their employability towards achieving those goals.
- Provide information to students about the available support from Employability and Careers, and encourage engagement through attendance of at least one employability event.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is (designed to):
Lecture sessions with Q&A will provide students with information regarding career paths, including popular sectors for economics graduates and further study in economics.
Lecture sessions and workshops will help students prepare for interviews, including general advice for self-presentation, likely questions and how to approach them, and practical experience in answering questions.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
