In light of the Covid-19 pandemic the University has revised its courses to incorporate the ‘Hybrid Learning Experience’ in a departure from previous academic years and previously published information. The University has changed the delivery (and in some cases the content) of its programmes. We have updated key module information regarding the pattern of assessment and overall student workload to inform student module choices. We are currently working on bringing remaining published information up to date to reflect current practice in time for the start of the academic year 2021/22.

This module introduces students to key principles, skills and techniques required to facilitate actor training in a variety of teaching and learning contexts, including, but not limited to schools, community groups, professional training, education outreach activities and online learning across diverse communities. Learning and Teaching processes will be examined through the lenses of acting, voice and movement.

The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate the following through their engagement with the formative assessment, module content and associated activities:
Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:
- Students will be expected to demonstrate their development of personal pedagogic practice via continuous weekly delivery of teaching exercises in pedagogy class tutorials with their own cohort, as directed by the class tutor. This activity is designed to synoptically assess the skills accumulated by the student through all of their classes in this module
Formative assessment will occur during all practical skill based sessions.
Informal formative verbal feedback from tutors will be provided via, but is not restricted to, in class activities, the virtual learning environment, email exchange, personal tutorials.
Summative formal written feedback will follow submission of the summative assessment.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to:
- Enable the learner to access core concepts studied and apply these to selected practical contexts
- Actively engage learners with the pedagogy and facilitation of actor training across multiple contexts through critical analysis and evaluation
The learning and teaching methods include:
- Seminars classes
- Practical classes
- Teaching observations
- Study based on module content and associated activities via the virtual learning environment
- Independent study based on module reading lists and further independent enquiry
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
