Educational aims of the programme
- To provide a high quality education that is both intellectually rigorous and at the forefront of FinTech and Policy research, relevant for problem solving and decision making by managers, policy makers, business organisations and legal professionals.
- To respond to the emergent needs of corporations, financial and legal service providers, as well as academia, for professionals who are able to work with analytical, legal, programming and conceptual tools to solve business, social, legal, ethical and policy problems and generate value from available information using the systems that underlie the operations of modern corporations.
- To implant understanding of the theoretical base around FinTech, Policy, Law and Ethics, practical skills and experience in using analytical, argumentative, legal and ethical policy tools, arguments and evidence. It will allow future professional managers, financial services professionals, legal professionals, and consultants to cope with an increasingly complex and global operational environment of modern digital markets. Completion of the programme will provide a sound foundation for those considering continuing their academic development towards a PhD degree in the related disciplines.
- To provide students with a choice between a more quantitative intensive track of modules or a qualitative analytic (policy and ethics) which would reflect students' personal strengths and preferences and match future career aspirations.
- The compulsory modules provide a sound foundation which builds an analytical, programming, financial, legal and ethical skillset using relevant theories and practical problem solving tools, and supports the development of practical hands-on experience applying the theoretical aspects using real-world case studies, tools and project work to address corporate, social, legal and ethical challenges and find solutions to actual problems related to FinTech and its wider social consequences.
- The readings in the module will build a sound basis which would allow students to access and understand the academic literature and undertake empirical investigations in the areas of policy decision, FinTech business development and ethical decision-making.
- Develop participants' critical and analytical powers so that they can effectively plan and execute individual research/design/development projects.
- Societal and environmental context - A graduate from the MSc Programme should be aware of the societal and environmental context of his/her business activities.

This Master's Degree programme is studied full-time over one academic year, consisting of 180 credits at FHEQ level 7. All modules are semester based and worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.
Possible exit awards include:

Overview of FinTech (MANM493) will be taught in the Autumn semester for students starting the programme in September. This module will be taught in the Spring semester for students starting the programme in February.
All other modules will be taught for both cohorts, at the same time, as outlined in the programme documentation.
Choose 6 from the listed optional modules. 2 of these must be in Semester 1 and 4 of these in Semester 2.
