This module is intended to further develop the use and application of computing in the professional media industry. Developing the application of switchers, routers and IT systems and applying video over IP and ethernet in an asynchronous environment.

Assessment Strategy
The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate computing protocols as applied to video over IP and their understanding of data communications for the media industry. Teamwork and critical thinking are assessed in small groups with one-to-one guidance from the staff.
Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:
- Coursework 1 - Video streaming capture analysis - 20%
- Summative Class Test - 1-hour class test (covering learning outcomes 1-4) - 20%
- Coursework 2 - Individual computer systems project for video in an asynchronous environment - 60%
Formative assessment
There are no formal formative assessment components for this module, but formative feedback will be given to individual students in tutorials during lab sessions.
Formative assessment is provided through coursework feedback and continuous interaction during lab sessions.
Feedback
Students receive written feedback on their coursework and verbal feedback on their practical work throughout the module.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to continue the development of the student’s application of computing to the media industry.
The learning and teaching methods include:
- One two hour lecture (weeks1-12)
- Practical computing laboratory sessions and seminars to enable students put theory learnt in the lecture into practice.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
