Assessment Strategy

The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate they have met the learning objectives of the module.

 

The following assessment methods will be used:  


  1. Three reflective case studies (1,500 words each) to provide evidence that the student can apply theory to practice, to evaluate evidence and to reflect on practice. These will cover the topics of teaching, assessment and feedback.

  2. A final end of module reflective essay highlighting personal growth over the course of the module.

  3. A diary of workplace-based education to provide evidence of teaching, assessment and feedback as well as the time taken for training.

  4. Two peer observations by university academics, which can be a recorded activity. The first on workplace-based teaching and the second on giving feedback.



 

Formative assessment

Students will be provided with formative MCQ’s covering module aims. They will also be given the opportunity to submit one case study for formative assessment and feedback.

 

Feedback

Students will be given written feedback on all submitted assets. They will be given written and verbal feedback on any in person peer observation of teaching and feedback.

  • To understand learning concepts and theories and to be able to apply these to workplace teaching.
  • To use different assessment methods to assess students within the workplace.
  • To give constructive feedback to learners.
  • To provide support and pastoral care to students on placement and to support equality and diversity among learners.

Methods of Teaching / Learning

Teaching will be self-directed and delivered online. It will include reading, Xertes, videos and podcasts. There will be two in person webinars.

Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
