In the light of the current healthcare agenda, this module is designed for students new to leadership roles to facilitate their development as future leaders. The module invites students to critically reflect on their existing knowledge and skills, debate alternative approaches to leadership and evaluate future learning needs.

Assessment Strategy

The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills of reflection, critical analysis and synthesis. Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of: • A critique of a reflective journal which illustrates the development of in depth knowledge, skills and insight of the attributes required for effective leadership, both now and in your future practice. 3,000 words Formative assessment Students will be enabled to present a draft plan to the module team for feedback Additionally students will be supported with a peer review/ clinic style discussion in preparation for the assignment. Facilitate students to reflect critically on their current knowledge, skills and attitudes to leadership. Students will explore current theory and apply to their own development needs in the context of their future role.

Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
