Module Overview
This module builds on all the previous programme learning outcomes, in order to ensure that the student achieves a professional level entry into the global creative industries and that they are a self-motivated reflective practitioner with a high level of ability in critical thinking and analysis. They will then complete an extended reflective evaluation of their production and placement roles during Semester 2. Finally they will complete an extended research based essay on a relevant topic of their choice, linked to their professional ambitions, guided by tutor support.
The module supports sustainable a industry, infrastructure and innovation by encouraging enterprise and entrepreneurship and fostering an understanding of relevant sustainable financial and business models.

Assessment Strategy
The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate an advanced level of both management and academic skills, to provide a firm foundation for both employability and potential further independent study.
Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:.
• Reflective evaluation of Semester 2 production roles in the context of professional development. (2500 – 3000 words)
• Extended research project (8000 words)
Formative assessment
Formative feedback will be given throughout the production process, during practical sessions and weekly tutorials. Formative feedback will also be sought from placement supervisors. Students will complete a regular blog within the VLE during the summer period, which will enable tutor and peer feedback. There will also be a formative workshop to provide peer and tutor feedback on the research project
Feedback
Provided verbally throughout the practical process and online via the student blog. Summative feedback will be provided 3 weeks after submission of written work (production notebook and research project).
Module aims
- Enable students to confidently and independently undertake a management role on a production
- Broaden and deepen students knowledge and understanding of the contemporary entertainment industry in a range of cultural contexts.
- Enable students to complete an independent research project on a relevant topic of their choosing, evidencing appropriate academic skills

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to expand their learning into the professional context, to increase academic skills whilst meeting the programme’s aims of developing student employability and engaging with contemporary practice.
The learning and teaching methods include:

• Guided learning: online tasks
• Independent study
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
