Educational aims of the programme

  • The programme aims to provide a high-quality education that is intellectually rigorous and up-to-date, as well as relevant to the needs of future business professionals active in developing strategies of growth for start-ups, emerging-growth companies and large organisations.
  • It provides a theoretical framework and practical skills related to Entrepreneurship, Digital Economy and Innovation Management that business professionals need to apply in an increasingly complex, dynamic and global business world.
  • The compulsory modules provide a solid foundation which builds an analytical and problem-solving skillset and supports the development of rigourous practical hands-on experience by applying the theoretical aspects and by finding solutions to actual business challenges.
  • The optional modules aim to offer students a broader perspective and resource on the subject matter and allow them to specialise in areas that are of particular interest to them.
  • To provide the students with the basis for developing their own approach to learning and personal development.

Full-time

This Master's Degree programme is studied full-time over one academic year, consisting of 180 credits at FHEQ level 7*. All modules are semester based and worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.
Possible exit awards include:
- Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits)
- Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits)
*some programmes may contain up to 30 credits at FHEQ level 6.

Part-time

This Master's Degree programme is studied part-time over two academic years, consisting of 180 credits at FHEQ level 7. All modules are semester based and worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.

Other information

The programme is capped at 50 students; this reflects resourcing constraints for modules MANM298 and MANM468 where students collaborate with external companies;

Employability - The programme develops key digital and business skills which are highly valued in the workplace while students develop practical experience related to a business context.

Global and Cultural Capabilities - In the Programme, the student body is diverse, and students will develop their ability to work in groups effectively with other students from diverse backgrounds to develop their cultural intelligence, broaden their world view, own perspectives and interpretations and reinterpret issues against a broader spectrum of ideas and representations.

Digital Capabilities -Throughout the programme, students learn to navigate and use the Virtual Learning Environment such as SurreyLearn, Zoom, and MS Teams. Students will also learn Excel, Google Analytics, and other digital tools which are also applied in the work place. Module Assessments across the programme also include the creation of digital media and digital presentations thus ensuring students engage with a variety of digital tools.

Sustainability - The Programme aims to develop students' understanding, awareness, and capability to develop innovative solutions to deal with key agendas related to specific sustainability and ethically related areas such as socially responsible marketing actions and strategies.

Resourcefulness and Resilience - Students performance and progress is facilitated and assessed by both formative and summative assessments. Group work and group assessments support the development of students' skills to be creative, review their peers, and problem solve. Developing self- efficacy including the ability to adapt and change approaches to their studies further supports students' employability skills.
