Educational aims of the programme

  • Develop advanced knowledge and critical understanding of contemporary healthcare administration by integrating strategic management, organisational leadership, health policy, governance, quality improvement, financial management and evidence-informed decision-making within national and international healthcare systems.
  • Develop the ability to critically evaluate complex organisational, operational and public health challenges, applying innovative, ethical and sustainable solutions to improve healthcare quality, organisational performance and population health outcomes.
  • Develop strategic leadership capabilities that enable graduates to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage organisational change, optimise healthcare resources and promote continuous quality improvement within diverse healthcare environments.
  • Develop advanced analytical, research and problem-solving skills that enable graduates to critically appraise evidence, conduct independent research and apply research findings to inform healthcare policy, management and professional practice.

This Master's Degree programme is studied full-time over one academic year, consisting of 180 credits at FHEQ level 7. All modules are semester based and worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.

Part-time

Global and Cultural Capabilities: Students develop an understanding of diverse healthcare systems, international policy, governance, and culturally responsive leadership through Health Policy and International Health Systems, Legal and Ethical Aspects in Healthcare Administration, and Strategic Management for Healthcare administration. International case studies and collaborative learning prepare graduates to work effectively across diverse healthcare settings.

Digital Capabilities: Students develop digital literacy through the use of healthcare information systems, digital resources, and evidence-based decision-making. Healthcare Information Management & E-Health provides specialist knowledge of health informatics and digital healthcare, while Operational Management for Healthcare Administration, Accounting and Finance Management, and the Health Research and Dissertation in Healthcare Administration strengthen digital analysis and information management skills.

Employability: Leadership, management, communication, and analytical skills are embedded throughout the curriculum. Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour, Strategic Management for Healthcare Administration, Operational Management for Healthcare Administration, and Project Management in the Healthcare Sector develop professional competencies required for healthcare leadership. The Health Research and Dissertation in Healthcare Administration enables students to demonstrate independent research and evidence-based problem-solving.

Resourcefulness and Resilience: Independent learning, reflective practice, teamwork, and critical thinking are progressively developed through Healthcare Quality & Risk Management in Healthcare Administration, Strategic Management for Healthcare Administration, and the Health Research and Dissertation in Healthcare Administration, preparing students to manage complex organisational challenges.

Sustainability: Sustainable healthcare leadership, health system strengthening, quality improvement, and responsible resource management are embedded within Health Policy and International Health Systems, Strategic Management for Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Quality & Risk Management in Healthcare Administration, and Healthcare Economics and Financing, enabling graduates to contribute to equitable and sustainable healthcare systems.
