Module Overview
Entrepreneurship and Innovation are the key pillars of economic development. This module introduces primary concepts of both entrepreneurship and innovation utilizing practical and experiential teaching methods. Especially, it will offer a novel perspective of opportunity identification, entrepreneurial mindset, creative thinking, and innovation in business contexts. It also explores the impact of the enterprises on the economy and identifies various support systems that nurture new venture evolution.
Through a combination of lectures and group learning activities, students will engage with external stakeholders to understand the complexities of business environments. Working in teams, they will make and give sense to the concept of entrepreneurship and innovation, explore various cases, synthesize ideas, and communicate using emerging digital technology. Emphasis is placed both on the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of Entrepreneurship and Innovation two main pillars. Especially, understanding various forms of ventures (i.e., high-growth, global, local, lifestyle, social, family etc.) will broaden the view of students.
The module also encourages students to reflect on the insights of the various stakeholders contributing to their employability and provides the opportunities for students to communicate their results to academic and non-academic audiences, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the concepts.

Assessment Strategy
The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with both formative and summative assessment. A variety of forms of peer and instructor formative feedback will be given during and following class-based activities, including case-basis analysis In particular, the assessment strategy is designed to enable students to demonstrate:
- Understanding and applying entrepreneurial mindset and innovative thinking in complex business environment for decision-making and problem solving
- Developing effective communication skills, including the ability to communicate ideas with the peers and academic/professional audiences
- Nurture understanding of business context by reflecting on contemporary topics in entrepreneurship and innovation, and industry leader's insights.

1. Group project (media artefact) - 50%: addresses learning outcomes 1, 2, 4 and 5.
2. Individual coursework - 50%: addresses learning outcomes 2, 3 and 5.
Formative assessment is embedded throughout the module to support learning and development. This includes tutor-led feedback during workshops, peer feedback on developing ideas, and opportunities to test concepts through discussion, create video campaigns, or interim activities. Engagement with real or simulated stakeholders, where appropriate, also provides informal and reflective feedback to help students refine their thinking, decision-making, and communication prior to summative assessment.
Students will receive ongoing feedback throughout the module through a range of formative and informal mechanisms designed to support their development and inform the summative assessments. Verbal feedback is provided during lectures and workshops through discussion of ideas, problem-solving activities, and tutor guidance. Students receive peer feedback on developing pitches, or interim tasks as part of collaborative activities. Where real or simulated stakeholders are involved, students may also receive feedback on the clarity, feasibility, and impact of their ideas. This feedback supports reflection, enables students to identify areas for improvement, and informs preparation for the final summative assessments.
Module aims
- Introduce students to the key concepts of Entrepreneurship and Innovation including opportunity recognition, value creation and capture.
- Through developing an entrepreneurial mindset and innovative thinking approach, students are supported to make entrepreneurial decisions for an entrepreneurial venture.
- Provide students with the understanding of different entrepreneurial roles and stakeholders including founder, founding team, investors and customers.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to develop students' introductory understanding of entrepreneurial mindset and innovative thinking within business contexts by integrating theoretical knowledge with applied learning. It supports the initial development of entrepreneurial, creative, and business skills through engaging with various stakeholders, while encouraging active learning, collaboration, and reflective practice to inform decision-making under conditions of uncertainty. The strategy also fosters awareness of contemporary issues in business practice and builds students' confidence in communicating ideas, developing relationships, and engaging effectively with a range of academic and non-academic audiences through various means of outlets.
Learning and teaching are delivered through a blended and interactive approach that introduces the development of entrepreneurial, creative, and business skills.
The module combines lectures with workshops and collaborative learning activities to introduce key concepts and enable their application to real-world or simulated contexts.
Applied learning is supported through students working in teams to explore entrepreneurial opportunities using digital resources and learning technologies that facilitate flexible engagement and communication using a range of formats and media.
Students will reflect on the insights of academics, industry leaders, and other stakeholders in the business context. ¿ Formative feedback is embedded throughout the module through tutor input, peer discussion, and reflective activities.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. Sustainability: Sustainability is introductory to the module, with a focus on societal and global impact on business environment, responsible business practice, and long-term value creation.
