Educational aims of the programme

  • Enable appropriately qualified health and social care professionals to develop higher level leadership skills in a variety of settings (PG Cert)
  • Provide a stimulating and conducive learning context in which to develop new knowledge, skills and understanding of contemporary policy, practice and theoretical perspectives for leadership in healthcare and its application to practice (PG Cert)
  • Enable learners to develop their leadership knowledge and skills in order to contribute to the continuous development of leadership within their area of practice (PG Dip)
  • Facilitate the learner to evaluate the evidence base underpinning leadership and identify areas that would benefit from further research (PG Dip)

Programme structure

Part-time

This Master's Degree programme is studied part-time over three years four months to five years, consisting of 180 credits at FHEQ level 7. All modules are worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.
Possible exit awards include:
- Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits)
- Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits)
Parts of this programme may be studied outside of the standard University structure and may be subject to professional body requirements.
