Educational aims of the programme

  • To deepen experiential knowledge, ability and understanding of the practice of acting
  • To develop a comprehensive experiential understanding of the techniques and methodologies that constitute a personally evolved rehearsal process
  • To enable an advanced knowledge of context, style, genre and form in the practice of acting
  • To provide an ensemble training context for the development of professional acting skills based on practical understanding and reflective practice.
  • To cultivate an ethos which values the artist as well as the actor-technician

Full-time

This Master's Degree programme is studied full-time over two academic years, consisting of 240 credits at FHEQ level 7*. All modules are 15, 30, 45 or 60 credits and are either semester based or year-long. GSA delivers its provision across three teaching blocks, within the University of Surrey’s existing semester structure.
Possible exit awards include:
- Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits)
- Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits)
*some programmes may contain up to 30 credits at FHEQ level 6.
