In light of the Covid-19 pandemic the University has revised its courses to incorporate the ‘Hybrid Learning Experience’ in a departure from previous academic years and previously published information. The University has changed the delivery (and in some cases the content) of its programmes. We have updated key module information regarding the pattern of assessment and overall student workload to inform student module choices. We are currently working on bringing remaining published information up to date to reflect current practice in time for the start of the academic year 2021/22.

Building on Level 4 taught modules and subsequent production roles, this Specialist Pathway Development module is designed to advance students' exploration of their subject pathway choice to an intermediate level of understanding and competence.

Each pathway group will receive a series of lectures, seminars and tutorials developing their knowledge and understanding of their elected specialism. Details of these, and the assessed project work will be delivered at the onset of the module via the pathway tutor.

The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate practical skills and understanding.
This will be a pathway specific exercise that will enable the students to further engage in and interrogate production skills and techniques. The exact nature of this will be pathway specific and more information will be provided at the onset of the module.
This will consist of an e-Portfolio, which will provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate the development of their skills and expertise in their chosen pathway. It will also allow the students to showcase the realisation of their learning and offer a forum for reflective analysis of their abilities, and understanding of the context in which they are located within the performance industry.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to:
- Enable the student to advance their exploration and acquisition of skills introduced at Level 4
- Introduce specialist areas of practice and process relating to their pathway choice
- Encourage self-directed learning through an industry focused project
- Encourage effective communication and participation in group dynamics
- Support students in development and realisation of creative decision making .
The Learning and teaching strategy represents key identifiers of the programme’s learning and teaching strategy in advancing collaboration, learner autonomy, the testing of knowledge and ability, critical understanding, group processes and the creation of original work and exploration of the techniques, crafts and working methods of production for performance.
The learning and teaching methods include:
A Module introduction followed by a series of taught sessions and project presentations.
Each pathway will have its own dedicated schedule of seminars and practical sessions. Depending upon the pathway and so the subject matter, these will vary in duration.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
