Module Overview
The module is aimed at students who have a business idea for a new or existing business. The module provides the opportunity for students to move from ideation to application. Students will apply and use skills and knowledge from across their undergraduate programme including PTY. Students will first devise a proposal for a new or existing business idea in semester 1 and then develop the proposal into a practical business plan in semester 2. Lectures and seminars support student learning and progress throughout the academic year.

This module focuses on three areas:
- Developing, managing and leading an applied business project.
- Applying different theoretical concepts to devise a business plan and conducting industry and market research to inform the business plan development.
- Demonstrate resilience and resourcefulness to complete the applied business research project.

Assessment Strategy
The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate skills and knowledge of managing and leading an applied business project independently based on secondary/ desk research relevant to their industry. The summative assessment for this module consists of:
- Individual Applied Project Proposal - The Proposal refers to learning outcome 1 and 2.
- Individual Applied Project Document - The applied project document refers to learning outcome 2, 3 and 4.
- Formative feedback will be provided in person in class and online via the virtual learning environment.
- Summative feedback will be provided upon submission of each assessment component.
Module aims
- Consolidate learning from first two years of study.
- Support application of knowledge to either develop a new or existing business idea further and inform industry practice.
- Provide an opportunity to deep dive into a specific applied business idea of interest with relevance for the future.

Methods of Teaching / Learning
The learning and teaching strategy is designed to support the student in developing the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake an applied business project of their choice. The teaching format includes lectures and seminars to introduce theoretical models and skills necessary for successful completion of the project. Independent study is a strong focus of this module. The learning and teaching methods include: Experiential learning, Reflective learning, Group and individual discussions and progress presentations.
Indicated Lecture Hours (which may also include seminars, tutorials, workshops and other contact time) are approximate and may include in-class tests where one or more of these are an assessment on the module. In-class tests are scheduled/organised separately to taught content and will be published on to student personal timetables, where they apply to taken modules, as soon as they are finalised by central administration. This will usually be after the initial publication of the teaching timetable for the relevant semester.
