Educational aims of the programme
- The programme aims to demonstrate the relevance and application of behavioural science theory to a range of people management issues within an ethical framework ensuring adherence to policy regulation and legal compliance.
- The programme aims to demonstrate the relevance between behavioural science and human resource management theory and complex business problems particularly workforce trends to measure organisational performance and create value.
- The programme aims to develop graduates who can demonstrate a wide range of professional skills, which are relevant to their HRM career ambitions; equipping students with the requisite skills to collaborate across boundaries effectively and inclusively to achieve positive outcomes, a positive organisational culture, and sustainable people practices.
- The programme aims to develop students¿ adaptability and resilience, by approaching problems in a creative, multidisciplinary way evaluating a systematic approach and application of behavioural science to drive organisational performance using evidence and data to create insight, problem solve, and develop ideas, and measure impact.

This Bachelor's Degree (Honours) programme is studied full-time over three academic years, consisting of 360 credits (120 credits at FHEQ levels 4, 5 and 6). All modules are semester based and worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.

Surrey's Curriculum Framework is committed to developing graduates with strengths in Employability, Digital Capabilities, Global and Cultural Capabilities, Sustainability and Resourcefulness and Resilience.
Employability ¿ this programme is CIPD accredited as such, the programme is already designed to equip students with all the core competencies required of HRM practitioners. Upon successful completion of the programme students are eligible to be awarded associate membership of the CIPD ensuring they are employment ready. Whilst in student membership of the CIPD Surrey Students can opt to attend the CIPD student conference where students may connect with HR experts, access real life case studies, engage with panel discussions and connect with other students and early career professionals.
Digital Capabilities -Throughout the programme students learn to navigate and utilise the Virtual Learning Environment @ Surrey (SurreyLearn) and other digital resources and online databases to aid their learning and undertake research. Students are encouraged to use current media such as Whatsapp, MS Teams, Zoom, and utilising cloud/file sharing for communication and team working. Appropriate use of digital media and communication platforms is increasingly relevant for HRM practitioners and through use and discussion of these students gain an awareness of their roles, plus their limitations and misuse which can have wider impact (e.g., to digital wellbeing) Module Assessments across the programme include the creation of vlog, and digital presentations thus ensuring students engage with a variety of digital tools. Students develop an understanding of HRM databases and the impact of technology on modern working practices.
Global and Cultural Capabilities ¿ The student body is diverse and students will develop their ability to work in groups effectively with other students from diverse backgrounds to develop their cultural intelligence, broaden their world view, own perspectives and interpretations and reinterpret issues against a broader spectrum of ideas and representations. Students develop an understanding of case law and law precedents with a specific emphasis on promoting equality of opportunity diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The concept of social justice is embedded across the programme particularly emphasised in the employee relations and global HRM modules.
Sustainability ¿ the programme aims to equip students with the knowledge to be ethically and socially responsible by demonstrating awareness of the potential solutions for sustainable employment opportunities including the promotion of inclusion and social justice, that will shape sustainable and meaningful work for the benefit of future society.
Resourcefulness and Resilience - Our programme is an intensive learning journey designed to enhance students¿ continual professional development. Their performance and progress are facilitated and assessed by formative and summative assessments. All interactive components of the programme contain mentoring elements aimed at helping students develop their individual and collective resourcefulness and resilience in the face of challenges and adversity. By the end of the programme, students have developed the necessary attributes for a career in people management such as confidence, adaptability, and self-regulation
