- To promote the application of knowledge and expertise to support professional practice in a variety of exercise environments (fitness, performance and healthcare settings).
- To encourage student engagement through specialist study and independent research.
- To encourage the interchange between theory, research and practice.
- To provide the opportunity for students to undertake professional training and gain vocational qualifications, enhancing career and employment prospects.
- To provide an educational environment that encourages the acquisition of intellectual, scientific, technical and transferable skills to promote self-directed and life-long learning.
- To develop a foundation of knowledge in human biosciences with some understanding of its application to sport and exercise.
- To promote the application of knowledge and expertise to support professional practice in exercise and fitness setting.
- To apply knowledge of human biosciences within a sport, exercise and health context.
- To develop understanding of the multi-disciplinary factors underlying human performance.
- To develop further understanding of health, disease, disorder and dysfunction, and the application of exercise to treat underlying metabolic factors.
- To be able to appraise more critically the theory, practice, literature and research findings within certain areas of sport and exercise science.
- To promote the application of knowledge and expertise to support professional practice in different exercise environments (fitness, performance and healthcare settings).
